Fish AI — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Fish AI ("the App", "we", "us") handles your information. Fish AI is designed to work without accounts and to keep your data on your device wherever possible.
1. Information We Process
Photos you submit. When you identify a fish, the photo you take or select is transmitted securely (HTTPS) to our server infrastructure and passed to our AI service provider solely to perform the identification. We do not build or keep any server-side library of your photos. A copy of the photo and the result is saved locally on your device in your catch history.
Location (optional). If you grant location permission, your approximate location is used to: tag your catches on your personal map, generate local bite forecasts and weather, and provide region-relevant context. Your location history is stored only on your device. Coordinates are sent to our weather provider to fetch conditions, and a general region name (for example, a city or province) may be included in AI requests for regulation context. The App works without location access.
Catch history, notes and quiz answers. Stored locally on your device only. Deleting an entry in the App, or deleting the App, permanently removes this data. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.
Purchases. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see or store your payment details, name or billing address.
Technical data. Our server infrastructure temporarily processes your IP address for security and rate limiting. We do not use it to identify you and do not keep IP logs beyond short-term operational needs.
2. What We Do NOT Do
No user accounts and no registration.
No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
No sale, rental or sharing of personal information for marketing.
No use of your photos to train our own AI models.
3. Service Providers
To operate the App we rely on the following processors, each receiving only what is needed for its function:

Per OpenAI's API policies at the time of writing, content submitted via the API is not used to train OpenAI models and is retained only for limited abuse monitoring. Please review these providers' own policies for details.
4. Data Retention & Deletion
Everything the App stores (history, photos, notes, preferences) lives on your device. You can delete individual catches in the App at any time; uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. Server-side, photos are processed transiently and are not retained by us after the identification completes.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA regions), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export personal data. Because Fish AI keeps your data on your device and does not maintain user profiles, you can exercise these rights directly through the App and your device. 6. Children
Fish AI is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it.
7. Security
Data in transit is protected with TLS (HTTPS). API credentials are held in encrypted server-side storage and are never embedded in the App. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we apply reasonable and appropriate safeguards.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

AI Results May Be Wrong
Fish AI uses artificial intelligence to analyze photographs. AI-generated results — including species identification, edibility indications, danger levels, size and record data, habitat maps, fishing tips, recipes and any other generated content — are probabilistic estimates, not facts, and may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or entirely incorrect. Confidence percentages reflect the model's internal estimate only and are not a measure of actual correctness.
Never Rely on the App for Food Safety
Do not eat, feed to others, or otherwise consume any fish or wildlife based on this App's output. Misidentification of species is possible, and some fish are toxic, poisonous, contaminated or otherwise unsafe. Edibility indications and recipes are provided for general informational purposes only. Always verify identification and safety with a qualified local expert and comply with local health advisories before consuming any wild-caught fish. You assume all risk arising from consumption decisions.
Not Legal Advice — Verify All Regulations
Fishing regulations shown in the App (seasons, size limits, bag limits, keep/release indications) are AI-generated summaries that may be wrong or out of date. They are not legal advice and must not be relied upon for compliance. Fishing laws change frequently and vary by exact location, date, species, method and license status. You are solely responsible for confirming current regulations with the official fish and wildlife authority for your location and for complying with all applicable laws. We accept no liability for fines, penalties or other consequences of non-compliance.
Handling Wildlife Is at Your Own Risk
Danger indications may be missing or incorrect. Some fish sting, bite, carry venom or cause injury. Handle all wildlife with appropriate caution and equipment. Fishing and related outdoor activities are inherently risky; the App is not a safety device.
Forecasts Are Estimates
Bite forecasts, solunar periods and weather data are informational estimates provided for planning convenience and entertainment. They do not guarantee fishing outcomes, water conditions or safety. Always exercise your own judgment regarding weather and water safety.
Marketing Materials
Screenshots and promotional images for the App may include licensed stock photography (including images sourced from Pexels.com under the Pexels license) used for illustration. Such imagery depicts example scenarios, and individuals shown are models or third parties; it does not represent actual App results, guaranteed accuracy or endorsements.
No Warranty; Limitation of Liability
THE APP AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON APP CONTENT, INCLUDING PERSONAL INJURY, ILLNESS, PROPERTY DAMAGE, FINES OR PENALTIES. Use of the App is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA).
